I painted this large painting directly in the mist of high summer and I was surprised I didn't get hit by surf boards going in and out of the water. To xapture the action as it happens, you as an artist have to be on top of your game. A lot of prep by doing your gesture drawing studies prior to going out on location. 80 % of the inspiration is in 100% of the perspiration.
