| Wailua Pioneer Farms Sunflower Field
Size: 36x48 ** Inspiration: Painting the Wailua Pioneer Farms Sunflowers was done in two sessions out of a need to capture the scene before the sunflowers wilted and were plowed under. The sunflowers only would bloom during a 3-week period and I thank Pioneer Farms and fellow artist Nani for coordinating our artist visit. Being the artist with the most experience, Nani and Linh Tang deferred to me. Should we paint up close or from far? I choose from afar, and did the mountains in the background with the Sunflowers in the mid ground. I later second guessed myself because I reasoned that the mountains would always be there, but not the Sunflowers. But when I returned for my 2 session, I got up close and personal to the Sunflowers and it all fell into place with this painting. More...
